Description

The Monsooned Malabar Coffees from India, were among the first GI tagged coffees to be registered from the Karnataka region. They are hailed for being one of the finest quality speciality coffees world over, commanding a premium in the global markets for its best blending features, besides its unparalleled quality. Monsooned Malabar also prides to be the only Monsooned Coffee in the world with a very interesting story of its genesis which happened by chance and apparently ‘accidentally monsooned’, during a long voyage. History has it that several years ago, during the voyage, Monsoon winds caused the beans to swell to one and a half times the normal size resulting in a purer, paler colour, with a magical effect on the coffee which proved a super hit with consumers around Europe who indulged in its unique flavor. And the rest is history! India has carved a niche today for the acumen exhibited by its coffee connoisseurs in creating the world’s most exotic specialty coffee!

What makes them unique:
Monsooned Malabar coffee gets its name from the region of Malabar where it is exclusively grown and the special process (monsooning) involved in preparing it. The Monsooning process is carried out due to the prevailing weather conditions and the moulds which are found in the region. The Monsooned Malabar Arabica Coffee variety exhibits ‘good body/strength and smoothness’ which makes it special.
It is carefully prepared by using the raw coffee beans (green beans), obtained from the whole crop cherry of Arabica coffee.
